Talk about FAST delivery, I ordered this on the 6th and received it on the 8th.The chair came in one very large box and the footrests came in a medium-sized box. They were delivered at the same time. The boxes were in great condition. The delivery person rang the bell and left before I could open the door. I'm glad I was home so the packages didn't sit outside all day.Upon removing the items from the boxes, the wheelchair and footrests were found to be in perfect condition. The wheelchair was exactly as described in the ad. The footrests were a teeny bit fussy about locking into place. But they did lock. I wanted to make sure they were fine before we used the chair, so I talked with a representative at Invacare. The call to Invacare was speedy and the rep. was courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly.I purchased this product for taking Mom shopping, sightseeing on vacations, going to parks and festivals - times when walking long distances or periods of time are necessary.Having rented wheelchairs, including Invacare, before this purchase, I knew we would be happy with the one of their 20-inch models since she appreciated the bit of extra room to shift positions and to keep her purse. This chair feels easy to move and store. Haven't used it yet since we just received it, but I know that we will like this one as much as the rentals :).ON EDIT - Sept. 16, 2010.I used this chair on a couple of outings now - once pushing my mother (reason I bought this chair) in a park on an asphalt path and once in an indoor shopping mall. During these short jaunts I found myself tiring while pushing the chair, something I hadn't felt when using rental chairs. I'm solidly built and the lady I was pushing is 170 pounds - well under the 250 lb rating of the chair. One day my mother and I stopped by a store and I decided to use their wheelchair. It turned out to be the same model as ours, the Tracer EX2. It provided me a chance to see if it was easier to push than mine. It turned out to be the same experience.Like I stated in my earlier review, I have rented wheelchairs in the past and liked them. One of my favorites was an Invacare, and I thought it was the same model as this one, but now I don't think it was this model after all.So while I'm happy to have this wheelchair on hand for infrequent usage, I think I'll continue to rent heavier-duty chairs for vacations where lots of movement is required at destinations and sightseeing.If/when the day comes that my mother becomes wheelchair bound, I'll likely purchase a heavier-duty wheelchair or a rental model or ???...something that moves easier. This is an excellent wheelchair and a good value; especially when you consider that even many "good" insurance plans will not pay for wheelchairs or their rentals. At one point we were quoted a price of $100 a day to rent a wheelchair. The price of the chairs seems to also be rising by at least $10 every 6 months. The question comes in the weight quotes, since I have looked many times into purchasing a wheelchair. Finally with a broken ankle after many other injuries and also having an aging mother we purchased this chair. The weights have been quoted differently at various times. At one point the 18" chair was listed at 11 pounds heavier than this. It makes one wonder where the true facts are. This is not a lightweight chair. It is an effort for us to lift this up into the car. I am not sure how an injured or older person would be able to do it by themselves. The chair is sturdy and slightly padded and comfortable to sit in. The total width really needs to be given, instead of just the seat width. This does not fit through all the doors in my house. The other caution is that it does not have any bar or anything that someone pushing the chair can `step' on to tilt the chair a up a bit to maneuverer over curbs and thresholds. In order to accomplish this, the person pushing has to lean down, heavily on the handles to get the chair up or do the rather jolting maneuver of pushing the wheels up over the higher obstacle - making an uncomfortable ride. What is really sturdy in the construction of this chair as opposed to the really light weight chairs are the foot rests which come in handy when one has heavy casts or just wants a secure place to rest one's feet. The foot rests come off and on easily (for a helper) in order to transport or lift up the chair. In total this is a good buy as long as one knows the drawbacks. This chair was delivered promptly and in good condition. It was easy to assemble (foot rests and some trivial parts). Having no prior personal experience with wheelechairs, I bought this one for my mother-in-law, after having done some cursory research online and in town, for her use during her extended stay. We've now had it for about 5 1/2 months. While it's not the absolute lightest, portable-ist, high-end-ist chair, we have found that it is most satisfactory. And at the price (we paid about $132 at Amazon) it was a great value.Note that this chair does not have flip-up arms, so if 20" is not wide enough or you need to load/unload from the side, I would not recommend this chair for you.My mom-in-law doesn't use it full-time. Rather, we use it for her when we take her for day trips to the Galveston Seawall or other sightseeing, so she doesn't have to walk so much. Since I have some back problems, I sometimes share it with her, so I have used it a little myself. It's reasonably comfortable, though I can't speak to how it would feel as a full-time chair. The 20" width was a smart way to go. It fits me as well as mom-in-law (I'm a 40" waist), and for mom it allows space to carry a bag on the side.It is actually more spacisous than current airplane coach seats.About 10 lbs. lighter would be nice, but would be an unreasonable expectation at this price. I can manage loading/unloading it alone if I have to, but a second person helping is really nice. We usually transport it in my minivan, but we have also managed to tranport it in my wife's Mazda3 (with the back seats folded down). It is not hard to fold or unfold. The rear wheel locks work well. It's easy to push with moderate effort. I've used it on hilly sidewalks and on grass and dry ground. Some folks suggest the 'transport' chairs because they're lighter for transport, but I suspect that the big rear wheels of this chair make it easier going on rougher pavement or ground. For needs similar to ours, I would certainly recommend this chair.PS: It probably fits well in some car trunks if there is pretty much nothing else in the trunk. Also, we have learned that taxi cabs DO NOT like to pick up wheel chairs. If you expect to need a cab with this (or likely any other) chair, you will need to find a Taxi minivan or similar vehicle 'on the fly', whichi can be a challenge. I suggest that if you expect to have the need, have a taxi company phone number with you so that a suitable vehicle can be dispatched to you.
